Our statutes
A community to share,
learn and advance minimally invasive veterinary medicine.
MINIMAL is the Iberian Association of Minimally Invasive Veterinary Medicine, a non-profit association established for an indefinite period and governed according to democratic principles.
Its main purpose is to build a community of veterinary professionals who specialise in or have an interest in minimally invasive procedures, promoting education, specialisation, outreach and the sharing of knowledge.

Minimally invasive veterinary medicine encompasses diagnostic and therapeutic techniques which, using endoscopic, ultrasound or radiological guidance, make use of natural pathways or minimal approaches to intervene in different areas of animal anatomy.
MINIMAL was created to bring together professionals working in this field and provide a shared space in which to exchange knowledge, experience and opportunities for collaboration.

To encourage the exchange of knowledge and experience among specialists in minimally invasive veterinary medicine across the countries of the Iberian Peninsula.
Professional collaboration
To work alongside other veterinary specialities that are directly or indirectly connected with minimally invasive veterinary medicine.
International connections
To cooperate with minimally invasive associations and societies in other countries and foster relationships that contribute to the continued development of the speciality.
Joining MINIMAL
An association
open to the profession.
Membership may be requested by individuals with legal capacity and the appropriate qualifications to carry out activities related to the purposes of the association.
Legally constituted organisations with an interest in MINIMAL’s aims may also become members, provided that they express their willingness to comply with its statutes.
The statutes distinguish between founding and promoting members, ordinary members, and professionals or representatives of organisations who may collaborate with the association.
Being a member
Participation also means commitment.
Participate
Members may take part in the activities and committees organised by MINIMAL and benefit from the initiatives promoted by the association.
Have a say
Founding, promoting and ordinary members may participate in General Meetings with the right to speak and vote, and may elect and be elected to governing positions.
Stay informed
Members have the right to be informed of decisions taken by the association’s governing bodies and to make proposals that contribute to achieving its aims.
Contribute and comply
Membership of MINIMAL involves complying with the statutes and validly adopted decisions, observing confidentiality and conflict-of-interest policies and paying the fees approved by the General Meeting.
How we are organised
An association
built by its members.
The General Meeting is MINIMAL’s highest governing body and is made up of all its members.
An ordinary General Meeting is held once a year. Extraordinary meetings may also be convened whenever necessary, at the initiative of the President, the Board of Directors or the members themselves, under the conditions established in the statutes.
Among its responsibilities, the General Meeting elects the Board of Directors, approves accounts and budgets, determines membership fees, amends the statutes and decides on the association’s principal matters.
The Board of Directors
Managing, representing and making things happen.
Composition
The Board of Directors must include a President, Secretary and Treasurer, and may also include a Vice-President and additional Board Members.
Representation
Its members should represent, as evenly as possible, the different areas of activity and professional profiles represented within the association.
Term of office
The Board consists of a minimum of three and a maximum of ten members. All positions are unpaid and are held for a term of two years.
Management
The Board directs the association’s activities, manages its financial and administrative affairs, represents MINIMAL, implements decisions made by the General Meeting and decides on the admission of new members.
How we operate
Transparency,
participation and responsibility.
Decisions of the General Meeting are adopted according to the majorities established in the statutes, with special majorities required for matters such as amendments to the statutes, dissolution of the association or certain decisions concerning its assets.
MINIMAL’s activities are financed primarily through membership fees, as well as grants, contributions and other resources obtained lawfully.
Accounts and budgets are submitted to the General Meeting, and members may inspect the association’s financial records under the conditions established in the statutes.
A shared project
MINIMAL belongs to its members.
The association operates through a democratic structure in which its members can participate in decisions, propose initiatives and contribute to the development of minimally invasive veterinary medicine.
We share education, knowledge and experience to strengthen the speciality and build an increasingly connected professional community.
